Grand Circle Travel owned by Alan Lewis booked 115 American Tourist on the Tour to see the Temples of Abu Simbel on December 26, 2010. The Tour bus company that was contracted out by Grand Circle Travel was Misr Sinai. The passengers on that tour loaded three buses in Aswan that were travleing in a caravan before sunrise. The road that they were traveling on was dark, unlit, and under construction. The first bus in the caravan drove around a semi-dump truck that was sticking out in the middle of the highway. The driver of the second Tour bus was speeding and had his lights turned off. The guide hired by Grand Circle Travel who was supposed to protect the safety of all of the passengers had fallen asleep. The driver crashed into the dump truck. The entire right side of the bus was ripped off. Seven of the passengers were thrown outside of the Tour bus and killed. One of the passengers died on the Tour bus. Twenty seven passengers suffered catastrophic injuries. Another victim died a few months after the accident had happened. Four months prior there had been four seperate accidents on that same road in which some of the passengers were killed and suffered catastrophic injuries. Since 2006 there have been a total of 16 Tour bus accidents. Grand Circle Travel completly aware of these Tour bus Accidents, continued to book the ground tour to see the Temples of Abu Simbel. Some of the passengers wanted to pay to travel on Egypt Air which offers a thirty minute flight directly to Abu Simble from Aswan, Cairo, and Luxor. Grand Circle Travel told the Tourist that they would have to take the Ground Tour instead. This accident could have been completly prevented from happening.

The Law Firm of Motley&Rice, Attorney John Eubanks who is representing some of the passengers who were on that tour filed two wrongful death lawsuits and Personal Injury Law suits against Grand Circle Travel. The Owner of Grand Circle Travel, Alan Lewis also is the owner of Overseas Adventure. Until recently Grand Circle Travel continued to book this same Tour to Abu Simbel dispite this horrific accident. There are hundreds of complaints through the years on Better Bussiness Bureau, Consumer Affairs, Pissed of Consumers in which Grand Circle Travel ignored Safety Warnings issued from the United States Department of State. The Attorney General of Massachusetts had filed a Lawsuit against Grand Circle Travel to repay over 750 people who had booked a trip with Grand Circle Travel which was canceled by Grand Circle Travel, in which they had refused to refund their client their money.
